Nitro has an authentic rural feel while being only minutes away from Downtown Charleston. Ridenour Lake is located one half a mile from 21st St and is an up and coming destination spot for outdoor enthusiasts from all around. Nitro has a strong faith-based population and there are many places of worship to choose from, many of them located in the center of the city. Our community has another unique aspect, in that it is a living memorial to WWI. The Nitro Museum is a passion project that the city has created to showcase the rich history that gave Nitro its start. NITRO HAS FANTASTIC SCHOOLS

Nitro High School has been deemed a WV Exemplary School and is ranked 7th in the state. The Wildcats athletics programs have also gained notoriety. Nitro is focused on the youth of this city and that is shown through the ever-evolving dedication to the Greater Nitro Youth Foundation. From athletics to performing arts, the youth of Nitro are celebrated for their many talents.
